North Delta crime beat: week of June 14

A selection of property crimes in North Delta over the previous week

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department.

If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance.

The following are some of the calls the Delta Police responded to in the previous week:

• June 14, 11:39 a.m., 8200-block 118th St.: Complainant observed an unknown person watching a postal worker deliver mail before entering driveways and removed mail from the mailboxes. Police attended and located a suspect with stolen mail sticking out of his jacket pocket. Police recovered stolen mail, including interim driver’s license, cheques and more. Suspect was arrested.

• June 14, 11:09 a.m., 9400-block 119th St.: Complainant reported that sometime overnight their vehicle had been scratched on the driver- and passenger-side doors and hood. Damage to vehicle was approximately $500.

• June 15, 1:02 a.m., 11700-block 92nd Ave.: Complainant, who is in the process of moving residences, reported that sometime between June 13 and 14 their residence was broken into and numerous items were stolen. Stolen items include clothing, a surveillance camera, a DVR, tools and a lawn mower.

• June 15, 8:48 a.m., 10500-block Main St.: Complainant reported that numerous credit cards were mailed to their residence that were fraudulently obtained in the complainant’s name. All accounts were opened in and around Regina, Sask. Equifax was contacted to freeze the accounts.

• June 17, 2:00 p.m., 92000-block Forest Pl.: Complainant reported that sometime between June 12 and 17 unknown person(s) had broken the latch securing the garden shed in the back corner of their property and had stolen a lawn mower valued at $50. Approximate damage to the shed was $50.

• June 17, 8:55 p.m., 11200-block 87A Ave.: Complainant reported the theft of $2,000 worth of tools from a vehicle parked at their residence. Video obtained from a neighbour shows two unknown persons walking around the vehicle at 2 a.m. The stolen items were entered into the police database.
